The story of Soseki and Botchan begins to unfold. This work premiered in 1992 at the Ongakuza Musical, winning the Kinokuniya Theater Award for Best Group and the Yomiuri Theater Award for Best Play, and has been praised as "the pinnacle of original Japanese musicals." The play follows Natsume Soseki, who was in the depths of anguish, as he recovers through the writing of his novel "Botchan," and his wife, Kyoko, who embraces his journey. This highly acclaimed production, produced by Toho, features a clever original story and direction that interweaves historical fact and fiction, synchronizing Soseki's everyday life with the world of his novel. The production is directed by G2, who are also active as playwrights and have captivated audiences with their diverse works. The cast includes musical world leader Yoshio Inoue as the protagonist, Natsume Soseki, and Miura Hiroki, a leading figure in major, popular stage productions, in the role of Botchan. This will be Miura's first musical appearance alongside Inoue. Also featured is Yui Kobayashi, with her commanding singing voice and commanding presence, playing Botchan's best friend, Yamaarashi, while Michiru Aya, a glamorous and successful star actress who recently retired from the Takarazuka Revue, will play Noyo, Soseki's brother's wife. This will be Aya's first stage performance since leaving the company. The role of "Red Shirt" in "Botchan" will be played by Matsuo Takashi, a versatile actor whose solid acting ability brings depth to the world of the work. Similarly, the role of "Kiyo," who supports Botchan, will be played by Harukaze Hitomi, who has played a wide range of roles. And Doi Yuko, a versatile actress who has starred in numerous Ongakuza musicals and won the 47th Kikuta Kazuo Drama Award for her role as the prince in one of her signature works, "The Little Prince," will play Soseki's wife, Kyoko.
