The Nine Billion Names of God by Arthur C. Clarke | Short Story Tuesday
Today I'm talking about a short story that focuses on monks using new technology for their religion. Clarke writes about the monks as they try to use a permutation machine to generate all the names for God. Two tech support workers have concerns about this though. I like how Clarke writes about the intersection of science and technology, but this story feels rather shallow. Timestamps 0:00 Intro 1:48 Summary 4:18 Analysis Intro music is mine.
