The title and plot are based on an English children's counting rhyme with the elimination of participants. Ten people come to an island by invitation, where an unknown person punishes them for previous crimes that resulted in the death of innocent people. One by one, the guests of the island die, like the little black children in the counting rhyme, and try to find out who their judge is. A psychological detective story from the Odessa Film Studio in 1987, the thriller was directed by Stanislav Govorukhin based on the novel by Agatha Christie "Ten Little Indians". The film premiered on January 31, 1988 and was received brilliantly by both viewers and critics. And by the end of the year, the film became the leader of the USSR box office in 1988 (6th place) - 33.7 million viewers. Ten Englishmen, strangers to each other, receive an invitation to visit a mansion on a remote island. Among them are a retired military man, a doctor, a teacher, a policeman, a judge, an elderly lady - people from different walks of life. Most of them arrived at the invitation of not very close acquaintances, and in all cases the initials of the inviter are A. N., and the surname is Onim. Upon arrival, they are surprised to learn that the owner who sent the invitation is not on the island, and the servants who have no idea who hired them are in charge of the house. Due to stormy weather, it is impossible to contact the mainland; the boat that brought the guests does not return. The strange situation in which all those present find themselves subsequently becomes only more confusing. At the very first dinner, the guests hear accusations of murder against them, and soon death really does come into the ranks, taking the guests one by one. The guests settle into the house, deciding to wait until the situation becomes clearer. But already during the first joint dinner, something unpredictable happens: an unfamiliar voice reads out the accusations, each of those present is accused of murdering one or more people, which he committed in the past. Who is behind these atrocities and who was destined to die next? Will the guests be able to solve the riddle of the mysterious house and its owner?
