You want to make sure that your glass is polished down before putting any type of protection / hydrophobic coating on the glass. It’s important to make the glass look as perfect and have a beautiful shine and be optically clear and polishing is really the only way to achieve this. I will say that using pure cerium oxide is the most aggressive form of polishing compound. It also is very difficult to work with and the cleanup is a real nightmare as it likes to stain everything it touches that’s why in this video I go through a very thorough tape off and covering of all exposed surfaces prior to polishing.
