Before I could even reach the scene, the ambulance transporting the injured officer passed me on the roadway. I immediately turned around, got behind the unit, and escorted them all the way to the hospital to make sure they arrived safely. This call turned into a fast-paced emergency escort instead of a mountain rescue, and the urgency felt real.
