We discussed critical developments that are of particular concern to Türkiye with journalist and YouTube content producer Tolga Özbek. During our conversation at Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, we also discussed the annual financial results of Airbus, the world's largest passenger aircraft manufacturer, and its steps regarding flight safety. Airbus and Boeing have been fiercely competitive for many years. In recent years, due to the problems experienced by Boeing, Airbus has received more orders and begun to perform well in terms of profitability. At the Airbus Leadership University facilities, we had the opportunity to witness firsthand the European manufacturer's latest steps in flight safety. Turkey and Airbus have a long history of cooperation. TAI currently manufactures various critical parts for Airbus aircraft in Türkiye. Turkey is also both a program partner and a significant user of the Airbus A400M military cargo aircraft. Today, the Turkish Air Force, along with France, is among the armed forces in Europe with the largest number of Airbus A400M aircraft in its fleet. The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) successfully operate these aircraft. Tolga Özbek and I also discussed the latest developments in the development of the National Combat Aircraft (KAAN). We highlighted the strategic importance of KAAN for Turkey and summarized recent developments. In this section, we also discussed the purchase of F-16 aircraft, the process regarding the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, and the F-35 issue. Since Donald Trump's second term as US President, significant developments have been taking place in the international system. This process may include the lifting of CAATSA sanctions, the discovery of alternative solutions regarding the S-400 missile defense system, and the possibility that Türkiye could acquire F-35 aircraft. In our conversation, we discussed the winter tests of the Gökbey aircraft in Sweden and the successful initiatives of Turkish aviation and industrial organizations. We discussed Bayka's acquisition of the Italian aerospace company Piaggio and its partnership with another Italian company, Leonardo. We also evaluated key figures in the defense industry, including Selçuk Bayraktar, Haluk Bayraktar, and Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün. In the flight safety section, we discussed the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that was hit by a missile, the Japanese JAL crash, the tragic incident involving the American Delta Air Lines, and the Boeing 737 Max crash.
