Home Inspection Missed Them And They Ain't Going Quietly

As Summer is drawing to an end, the heat has failed to give up it's angry hold on the South. Temps are still near 100 with indexes even higher. It has been one of the rainiest seasons I can remember in years so the humidity is as high as the temps. The honeybees from last year did well through winter and produced many swarms. Sometimes these swarms find there way into voids of a home and setup shop. That's where I come in. I'm Yappy Beeman and I am a professional bee remover. In this episode, I travel to Alexandria ,Alabama to remove a 3 month old colony from a customers house. They had recently purchased the home and found the bees soon after. Upon Inspection, I found a little more than expected that gave a little scare but thankfully wasn't going to be much issue. Honeybee infestations are not as bad of a problem as some may think. They don't do damage to the home because they don't destroy anything. As you can see in the video, hornets had lived in this space at one time and they used the materials around them to build their home causing needed repairs. Over time, honey bee colonies grow larger. As they do, their overall numbers grow also. Catching an infestation and removing them professionally is the best answer. If a colony ever dies, they leave behind large amounts of honey that can attract other critters such as roaches, beetles and moths. This could lead to a large mess when they try to break into the honey causing it to seep through the voids and into the home. I hope you enjoyed this experience with me, watch as I work to remove a colony of honeybees.
