The final blow to take down the red parasite mothra, Relic setup afterword's What make's this boss so challenging: ED sentient pest/gnoster/animus second phase is pure hell. 3 bosses after you, blocking you, getting in the way, having to find just the right opening to gain an advantage on Animus. So my first attempt at this boss I figured kill Faurtis let Animus possess him, fight animus while possessed. Well problem with this is Animus takes reduced damage, 0:00 (Animus takes about 105-132 damage while possessing Faurtis, but in his Red Moth form he takes 330 damage). Here is a segment showing this • Animus take's reduced damage when posessin... It also takes forever having to kill Faurtis over and over again. Animus only possesses Faurtis for about a minute, and when he leaves Faurtis pretty much get's his max health back (In Phase 2). Trying to Faurtis seems ideal, but he does a lot of moves to stall for time, and also moves you can't punish him for. He growl's a lot, you cannot damage him when he growl's (it might seem to work from the side or behind, but as he start's you don't have much time to get to there. You also cannot disrupt his growl, and it's a continuous attack, which means if you parry it, you will take damage since you can only block the very beginning of a continuous attack, but the entire duration of the attack). After Faurtis growl's he borrows into the ground for about 10 second's, you cannot harm him when he is underground. Your scan meter goes down when your intended target run's and hide's, so when he comes back up you pretty much have to restart your scan again (which takes about 5 - 10 seconds to fill the scan meter 100%) The last thing he does is he goes into Armor Shield mode when Gnoster does his massive laser rain attack. Faurtis will remain still, but takes less damage in this form. He also stay's like this for about 10 seconds. Gnoster meanwhile can throw poison at you to for you to have to run away from Faurtis. In short it's incredibly hard to find the right opportunities to consistently punish Faurtis with only Bubble Parries. The Plan: So I had to use a very unique strategy to take them down. I changed my main target to the red moth itself Animus. To win you have to kill Animus, trying to kill gnoster and Faurtis will just cause Animus to keep resurrecting them. But when could I punish this red moth? After some experimenting, I learned that when Animus summon's his orange laser piller's if you are right next to Animus and bubble parry his first laser it will damage him. His laser pillar's do continuous damage like his growl, so you can parry the beginning but after that first parry you have to run away from that laser (sprinting, bloodhound step, non stop dodging) otherwise you will continue to take massive continuous magic damage. So in order to damage Animus you will have to take some damage in return, but by stacking Magic Negation, health restoration, and running out of the area after the first bubble parry we had ourselves our strategy. Bubble Parry the beginning of his first laser pillar, then after triggering the shield bloodhound step spam and get out of there to avoid taking continuous magic laser damage.
