Conic Sections Test Review: Ellipses and Hyperbolas
In this full test review, we go over everything you need to know about graphing ellipses and hyperbolas. We practice finding the center, vertices, co-vertices (minor endpoints), foci, asymptotes, and writing equations from graphs or given information. We also use vocabulary like transverse vertices and conjugate vertices when working with hyperbolas. Examples include problems such as: given vertices (1, 2) and (1, -2) and a conjugate axis length of 20, find the equation, center, and foci. We also review how to determine whether the conic opens horizontally or vertically and how to identify the values of a, b, and c from the graph or equation.
