Real-Time Bubble Measurement - #SimulinkChallenge2017

Bubble columns are widely used in chemical industry. These reactors provide a setup for multi-phase reactions between liquid and gaseous compounds and solid catalysts. In order to model and control the process, knowledge of the bubble size is significant. Therefore the measurement of online parameters of gaseous bubbles within the column are of high interest. This project shows a method to measure bubble parameters optically in real-time for spherical and non-spherical bubbles. A Simulink™ model is used for the acquisiton of images by a camera, processing these images, the separation of bubbles and background, the analysis of bubble parameters and saving the obtained data.
