■Kyosuke Kusuda Born August 23, 1903, in Atsuta Village, Atsuta District, Hokkaido (present-day Ishikari City). His real name was Yasuji Komatsu. In 1931, under the pen name Kyosuke Kusuda, he published the short story "Eating Breasts" in the magazine "Grotesque." Although he had several works before the war, his full-fledged debut works were the short story "Light," published in "Whodunit" in April 1948, and the short story "Snow," which won first prize in a contest held by "Detective Newspaper" in the same year. In 1948, he formed the "Detective Novel Newcomers' Association" with Akimitsu Takagi, Shigeru Kayama, Futaro Yamada, Kazuo Shimada, and San Iwata. Member of the Detective Writers Club, the Arrest Writers Club, the Humor Writers Club, and the Japan Children's Literature Association, etc. In 1949, became a Judicial Protection Commissioner (later a Probation Officer due to a system change in 1950), and later received a commendation from the Minister of Justice.
