Namibia (part 3) Windhoek to Solitaire.Great Road journey via Rehoboth Town and Spreetshoogte Pass

The driving distance between Windhoek and Solitaire is 252.4km and it would take you 3 Hours 9 minutes if you average 80 km/h (49 mph). If you're going from Windhoek to Solitaire, in the way to Sossusvlei, a nice option is to enter the C24/M47 after Rehoboth, and then take D1261 and D1275 to reach Spreetshoogte Pass. This is a beautiful mountain pass, where there is a parking place from which you can take a breathtaking view of the landscape. The pass offers a safe descent, being paved with tar for most of it. Surely, you should go slowly through the pass, not only because there are many turns, some of them quite radical, but also because you will want to absorb and enjoy the scenario. After descending the pass, the road will take you to C14/M36, close to Solitaire. When we drove these roads, in June 2023 road conditions were quite good, and to keep average 70Kph was not hard at all, except for the pass itself, for sure. A piece of advice then is: if you are making these ways, don't lose Spreetshoogte Pass. Solitaire Solitaire is situated at the junction of main roads C14 (Walvis Bay - Bethanie), and C19 (Sesriem - Sossusvlei), both major tourist routes through the Namib-Naukluft National Park. There is also a well-maintained, hard-sand air strip frequented by charter operators, private aviators and self-fly tourists. As the surrounding area is sparsely populated it is a common stopover for tourists. In addition to the petrol station, public restrooms, restaurant and bakery, the settlement contains a tyre repair workshop and a motel, the Solitaire Lodge. The adjacent farm land accommodates the upmarket Solitaire Desert Farm, 7 km away. #namibianyoutuber #namibiatourism #vlogger #vlogging #touristplace #tourism #tourist #traveling ##travelphotography #travevlogger ##deadvlei #sossusvlei #bob #travelvlog #travel #Namibia #vlog #tours #bob #travelvlog #namibia
