SEPTA Trolley Diversions & Trolley Shuttle Buses

December, 2025 With overhead wire problems and trolley pole slider shoe issues plaguing SEPTA, the Subway-Surface tunnel used by Routes T1 through T5 was closed for an extended period of time while repairs were in progress. Trolleys operated to/from 40th & Market via the surface diversion route, with riders transferring between trolleys and the L line to complete their journeys. SEPTA added a twist: a T trolley shuttle bus, running along Market Street making only the trolley stops from 33rd Street to City Hall as a relief valve for riders, giving them an option for travel besides the L line. This video shows trolleys on all five routes in various stages of arrival and departure from 40th & Market, as well as some of the T shuttle buses in action.
