Rita Biezēka - Wait (M-83 drum cover)
I’ve been learning to play the drums for two and a half years. Have you ever had a moment in life when you see a scene in front of you — just like in a movie — and suddenly, out of nowhere, a song starts playing in your head? It’s happened to me. That’s why today, I’ll play “Wait” by the band M83. Come with me — into my story. I’m on the shore of the ocean in Morocco — in a small surfer town, a little north of Agadir. The sun is bright and warm. The sky above is clear blue, without a single cloud — a perfect day. The air smells of the ocean’s salt, soft warmth, and mint tea. I sit down on a large rock, a bit away from the water so the wild waves don’t soak me, and I look into the distance. In front of me, the ocean breathes — vast, alive, mysterious. The waves crash rhythmically against the rocks. They rise far on the horizon, lifting slowly before hitting the shore with all their power. For a moment, the foam sparkles like white dreams. And suddenly, in my head, M83’s “Wait” begins to play. It wasn’t coming from my phone — it was just there, in that instant, for no reason, yet perfectly timed. Every sound, every note seemed to blend with the splash of waves and the play of light on the water. It wasn’t just a beautiful view — it was a feeling. A deep awareness that these moments are rare, but real. That sometimes life speaks not through words, but through landscapes, sounds, and sensations. And “Wait” was its music. The moment turns into eternity. Nothing exists outside of it — not yesterday, not tomorrow. Only now, here — in Morocco, on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. Only the ocean, the sun, and the song that makes me feel like I’m in a film. The waves move in rhythm with the music, as if the world itself were spinning on a record — slow, yet unstoppable. In front of me, nature shows a movie — and in my head plays its soundtrack. I take a deep breath and think: I need to keep this memory in my mind’s archive. Close your eyes — and enjoy your own ocean.
