Galatians Explained: It's Not What You Think. Why Paul Confronted Peter.
Paul stood up in front of everyone and told the most famous apostle in the world he was a hypocrite. That moment in Antioch was not a personality clash. It was a fight over the one question every human being eventually asks: how do I get right with God? The book of Galatians is Paul's white-hot answer, and it still lands like a hammer. This is not a letter aimed at people running away from God. Galatians is aimed at people running toward Him who quietly picked up a method that destroys the whole thing. The false gospel Paul is fighting did not deny Christ. It added to Christ. And according to Paul, that addition does not improve the gospel. It erases it. The spine of the entire letter is one sentence: a person is made right with God by trusting Christ, full stop. Not Christ plus a procedure. Not Christ plus a tradition. Not Christ plus finally getting your act together. Just Christ. And Paul would not move an inch from that, not for Peter, not for the Judaizers, not even for an angel from heaven. What makes this letter hit differently is who wrote it. Paul was not a man who never took the law seriously. He hunted Christians. He was advancing past everyone his own age in zeal for the law. When he writes that grace is the whole answer, he is not theorizing. He is describing the thing that reached down and grabbed him while he was still holding the coats of a man's killers. 📖 MEMORY VERSE "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
