This method generally involves three steps: 1. Check the condition of the lamp by removing it from the fitting and testing it in a known installation location or by plugging the fitting into a wall outlet. If the light is working properly, proceed to the second step. 2. Check the condition of the switch using a test pen. Test the input (pin 1) line, where the cable enters the switch, and the output (pin 2) line, where the cable exits the switch. If the test pen lights up, the switch is in good condition. Sometimes the switch is dirty because ants have built a nest inside. So, simply clean it. 3. Check the condition of the fitting. Sometimes the cable connected to the input or output fitting becomes loose due to mice or cats grabbing the cable and eventually coming loose. There are also cases where the yellow tab (platinum) that is usually connected to the phase is slightly recessed. So the lamp tip isn't touching the platinum tab. This usually causes the lamp to flash briefly and then stop working. To ensure the fitting is working properly, use a test pen.
