In my teens I grew interested in 19th century menswear and began to study the construction and drafting of original garments. Learning from tailoring manuals of the time and extant original garments, I taught myself how to draft and alter patterns. I began work as a contractor making museum grade reproductions for films, national park programs, and museums. This work has largely informed my current focus - 20th century workwear. Taking inspiration from old garments, I design and make my own pieces for the modern day. My goal is to make clothes that can be worn everyday and last at least one life time. I source natural fibers and notions from around the world. I want to create garments that, in time, can go back into the earth where their components once came from. My studio is in Ridgewood, Queens. If you'd like to visit the studio or just want to talk about old clothes, come on by! DM me on IG, or email me at [email protected] for commissioned bespoke work. -------- MUSIC by SkyHigh Music @skyhighmusicva on IG.
