Jonathan Winters: A Wild Winters Night | George Schlatter's Collection (1964)

This full-length special features an exclusive introduction by producer George Schlatter (LAUGH-IN), who thought so highly of his friend Jonathan Winters and his skills as an entertainer that he set out to produce a show around the comedian on NBC. Schlatter tells the behind-the-scenes story of the production, also, starring Art Carney (THE HONEYMOONERS). It was in the aftermath of the asassination of President John F. Kennedy that the special took a turn. With not much of a locked in script or rehearsal time, Schlatter had to pivot and told WInters and Carney to "just play while I make up the show." A WILD WINTERS NIGHT is a testament to the talents of Winters and Carney and their ability to bring joy and laughter, even during the grief America felt after JFK's death.
