MS Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Stena Line) - Tour! Lutz elevators
This ship has got quite a lot of elevators. All elevators have been built by Lutz in 1996 and there are no less than four public elevators, one semi-public, one crew-only elevator, one dumbwaiter and even one platform elevator on board. Expand for more info... This 1996-built ship has been changed in the early 2000s. As a result, this ship now has got a rarther confusing deck layout. The biggest part of deck 5 has been converted into a car deck. The former on-board shop that used to be on deck 5 has been removed. As a result, one elevator that just travels between deck 4 and 5 became abandoned since it doesnt have got any purpose anymore now as it just connects two car decks and nothing else. Also deck 7 is no longer situated on the same level and you'll come across a few steps if you walk along this deck. A new platform elevator has been added for that reason. Fun fact: If you're a disabled passenger and you want to go from deck 5 (where the reception is) all the way up to sun deck 8 while the ship is at sea, you have to ride four elevators! First you'll ride the red elevator from 5 to 6, walk through the corridors from port side to starbord where you'll catch the service elevator and go for a ride from 6 to 7. Disobey the signs (you have to, there is no other step-free connection between decks 6 and 7). You'll enter a room with pullman seats where the platform elevator is located behind a curtain. It is not advertised at all, so good lock finding it if you dont know where it is. Ride the platform elevator down, then follow the cabin corridor towards the aft, turn off towards port side and enter the yellow elevator which finally gets you up to deck 8.
