George Pérez's Wonder Woman is often regarded as one of the greatest comic book reboots ever created, and after finally reading the opening Gods and Mortals storyline, I can completely understand why. Following Crisis on Infinite Earths, DC gave George Pérez the enormous responsibility of redefining Wonder Woman for a new generation of readers. Rather than simply updating the character, Pérez rebuilt her from the ground up, placing Greek mythology at the heart of the series while creating one of the most compelling versions of Diana ever put to paper. In this video, I take a look at Wonder Woman Vol. 2 issues 1 to 7, discussing why these issues have stood the test of time, what makes Diana such an incredible protagonist, George Pérez's phenomenal artwork, the rich worldbuilding of Themyscira and Olympus, and why the battle against Ares remains one of my favourite Wonder Woman stories.
