A Pavia il primo sindaco transgender d’Italia: “Per Tromello sono la persona di sempre"

Gianmarco Negri, 40, a lawyer, is the new mayor of Tromello, a municipality in the province of Pavia, and Italy's first transgender mayor. Until five years ago, Gianmarco was called Maria and was born with a woman's body. He ran for mayor of Tromello on the "CambiaMenti" list, and his election sparked the interest of the Italian and international press. Fanpage.it met with him a few hours after his election and he explained what this unexpected result meant for him and his fellow mayors: "Tromello didn't elect a transgender person, it elected a person," the new mayor told us, dedicating the victory to his mother.
