The workshop covered the following topics: • Introduction to Permanent Identifiers (PIDs): What are permanent identifiers, why are they a fundamental element of the infrastructure for modern academic research, and their role in identifying and linking researchers, institutions, and scientific outputs. • The Importance of Metadata: Understanding the concept of metadata and best practices for creating and managing it to improve the quality of research data and its ease of discovery and access. • Research System Integration: How do permanent identifiers and rich metadata contribute to building a cohesive research system that fosters collaboration among various stakeholders in the academic research and publishing ecosystem? • Enhancing Scientific Discovery and Visibility: Reviewing the role of permanent identifiers and metadata in improving the visibility of scientific research outputs and linking them to global bibliometric databases such as Scopus and OpenAlex. • Best Practices and Practical Applications: Discussing real-world examples and applications that demonstrate the impact of using permanent identifiers and metadata in supporting academic publishing, promoting scientific openness, and improving knowledge management and scientific research.
