Explanation of the dances: Beginning with a dance called Magigal, from the Yakan word "igal" meaning to dance, is a traditional pre-nuptial dance of the Yakan tribe of Basilan. Performed as part of Paunjalay, the dance serves as a ceremonial preparation for the bride and groom before the wedding where maidens accompany the couple, symbolically guiding them through the transition to married life. Their graceful, synchronized movements embody themes of purity, readiness, and communal support. Followed by Paunjalay. AYakan pre-nuptial dance. It is often performed with both the bride and groom dotting their faces with white paint in order to conceal their identity from the evil spirits who might malign their marriage. Ending the Mindanao dances with Singkil. Singkil is the most famous dance of the Maranao ethnic group in Lanao del Sur. The word singkil is the name of the dancer's brass anklets and bells that clink while the dancer steps over a series of twin bamboo poles on the ground. As told by Maranao anthropologist, Mamintua Saber, the dance imitates the graceful movements of Princess Gandingan as she leaps from rock to rock. Bamboo poles are struck together to imitate the crashing of rocks during earthquakes. They will then take you to the rural parts of the Philippines showcasing the fun loving Filipinos. Beginning with a dance called “Binasuan.” Binasuan is a colourful and spectacular dance from Bayambang, Pangasinan. The word “binasuan” literally means “with the use of drinking glasses.” In this dance, the dancer displays good balance and graceful movement as she dances with three glasses half-full of water/coffee, one on her head, and one held on the palms of her hands. She shows her skills as she executes continuous fast turns, sitting, and rolling on the floor without spilling or dropping the glasses.
