Quite a few current chess players, both professional and amateur, now include the Colle System in their opening repertoire with the white pieces. Many do so because of its extraordinary solidity and, therefore, to avoid the unpleasant surprises resulting from in-depth preparations with the help of very powerful computers. But, most likely, the vast majority of them don't know that the inventor of this structure was a chess player who deserves to be immortal, and not only for that opening, despite the fact that she died very young (1897-1932) after suffering four gastric ulcers, which she never complained about in public. Her list of tournament wins includes several (Amsterdam 1926, Meran 1926, Scarborough 1927, and Scarborough 1930) against very strong opponents. The game described in this video is the most brilliant of her career. Another immortal, Savielly Tartakower, predicted that it would occupy "a golden place in chess literature."
