Rise Again | Jadon's Song

The Story Behind the Song This song holds a very special place in my heart. Years ago, when my daughter Jadon was still in primary school, she was going through a difficult season. Like many children, she experienced things that touched her heart deeply, and as a mother, there are moments when you wish you could take away all the hurt. One day she came running to me, excited, holding a piece of paper in her hand. "Mommy, Mommy, I wrote a song!" I still remember that moment. The words were written in crayon on paper. To be honest, I assumed it was probably a little poem or a few thoughts she had written down. But as I began to read, I grew quiet. The more I read, the more I realized this wasn't just a few words on a page. It was a song. I remember smiling when I noticed she had even written "Oh yeah" in the lyrics. That was one of the things that made me realize she hadn't simply written a poem. She had actually written a song. When I finished reading, I just sat there looking at the paper. I knew it was special. As a mother, I knew these words came from my daughter, but deep in my heart I felt there was something more. I couldn't fully explain it, but I remember thinking: "This feels Holy Spirit inspired." Not because it was perfectly written. Not because it was professionally written. But because there was a faith, a hope, and a truth in those simple words that seemed far beyond the age of the young girl who wrote them. Among those crayon-written lines were these words: "For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light." For a young girl to write those words during the season she was walking through touched me deeply. So I kept that piece of paper. Not because I knew what would one day happen with it. I kept it because I knew it was special. The years passed. The paper remained. And then something happened that I could never have imagined. Today we live in a time when technology can make things possible that once seemed impossible. I thank God that I live in a time like this, because it has become possible to take words written in crayon by a young girl and bring them to life as a real song. To me, that is incredible. Not because technology is the miracle. But because God can even use technology to tell a story He started writing years ago. What began as a piece of paper in a little girl's hand eventually became a song. When I listen to Rise Again today, I hear more than music. I hear the faith of a young girl. I hear the faithfulness of God. I hear the reminder that even when we fall, God does not let go of us. And I am reminded that even in our darkest seasons, the Lord is still our light. What amazes me most is that a song once written in crayon by a primary school girl can now be heard by people she has never even met. Only God can write a story like that. And perhaps that is your reminder today: "Though I have fallen, I will rise again; though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light." (Micah 7:8) May this song remind you that your current season is not the end of your story. God is still writing. — Jadon's Mom
