La CAMBOGIA che non ti aspetti | Siem Reap e i templi di Angkor
In this video, we'll explore Siem Reap, a Cambodian city famous for the ancient temples of Angkor. The treasures housed here, however, go far beyond this, offering an authenticity rarely found in other, more touristy Southeast Asian countries. Incredible green landscapes and countryside teeming with local life will accompany us throughout our journey through this splendid land. Below, as usual, I'll leave you with some useful information. ENTRY DOCUMENTS Currently, you must have: Passport with at least 6 months' validity Tourist visa for USD 30, obtainable online (here: https://www.evisa.gov.kh/), valid for 30 days, extendable for another 30 days Cambodia e-Arrival (CeA), obtainable by completing the registration form via the "Cambodia e-Arrival" smartphone app To view and learn more about the up-to-date entry requirements, visit Viaggiare Sicuri: https://www.viaggiaresicuri.it/find-c... CURRENCY AND MONEY EXCHANGE The local currency is the Riel (KHR), which, compared to the Euro or the US dollar, is negligible. For this reason, many purchases can (or should) be made in USD. I recommend withdrawing/exchanging most of your money directly into US dollars. Whenever possible, pay in local currency, but for convenience, you'll almost always end up using dollars directly. As for exchanging/withdrawing money, this is, as always, a very subjective matter, depending on your provider and their services. Check exchange rates and fees before withdrawing or exchanging money, even at the airport. Let's just say you can never go wrong with Revolut. Sometimes, at least in the city, you can negotiate a personal exchange rate (or the amount you want to get for that transaction) with money exchange kiosks. PHONE SIM SIM cards are so cheap that you can easily get one at the airport. You won't spend more than $5-10, depending on the plan you choose. If you're not arriving here by plane, you can also find shops that sell SIM cards in the city. Ask the drivers for advice. GETTING AROUND As in many other Southeast Asian countries, you can easily get around using the Grab app (the Uber equivalent). You can opt not only for cars but also for tuk tuks, which will cost less but have smaller speeds and luggage capacity. Tuk tuks often park at hotel entrances, sometimes working directly with the hotel. For example, we found the driver who accompanied us all day to visit the Angkor temples in this way. Relying on them for information on places of interest and excursions and to arrange routes from the hotel (and/or to the various attractions) can be helpful. Always keep Grab open to get an idea of the true cost of a given trip. Another option worth considering is renting a scooter, which I highly recommend at least for a day to explore the countryside around Siem Reap at your leisure. Costs are around $10-12 per day (maybe even less if you're looking), plus gas (about $2 per day) and insurance (about $3, so always get it!). ... Continue in featured commentary.
