Explaining what makes Every Bug Pokémon Good (from a Game Design Perspective)

I shall try to convince you that every Bug Pokémon has the potential to be good. The keywords being "Try" and "Potential". The Bug Type is almost universally agreed to be the weakest Type in all of Pokémon, and for good reason. It's offensively very mediocre, being resisted by almost as many Types as Steel, but is only defensively average to compensate, resulting in several disadvantageous matchups. In spite of these shortcomings, the game design of Bug Pokémon has evolved to compensate in several other ways, resulting in several of these seemingly weak Pokémon being able to punch unexpectedly high above their weight class.
