Consent is: A clear, free, informed, and conscious agreement Something that must be given for every action A decision that can be withdrawn at any time Without a clear "yes," there is no consent Silence, hesitation, or pressure = not a yes What the law says in Quebec: • The age of consent is generally 16 • There are rules depending on the age difference • Consent is invalid in cases of: o pressure o threats o a position of authority (coach, teacher, etc.) An act without consent is sexual assault. The consequences are real: For the victim: • Trauma • Loss of confidence • Isolation and distress For the perpetrator: • Police investigation • Criminal charges • Court proceedings • Restraining order • Criminal record (even for minors) Need help?
