Voltage Modular Designer — F_DEXZ — User Wave Operators (.DZW Import)

In this video I demonstrate one of the most powerful additions to F_DEXZ: User Wave operators. Using the companion F_DRAWWAVE module, custom single-cycle waveforms can be created and exported as .DZW files. These waveforms can then be loaded directly into individual operators inside F_DEXZ. Unlike traditional DX-style FM synthesis, operators are no longer limited to sine waves. Each operator can independently use: • Sine • Saw • Square • Triangle • User Wave (.DZW) Every operator can load a different waveform, allowing completely new FM structures and timbres that go far beyond classic DX7 synthesis. Topics covered: • Creating a waveform in F_DRAWWAVE • Exporting a .DZW file • Loading user waves into operators • The new USER waveform mode • Using custom waves as carriers • Using custom waves as modulators • Combining multiple imported waves in one patch • Preset storage and recall of imported waves One of the most interesting techniques is using custom waveforms as modulators. A single complex waveform can generate harmonic structures that would normally require several stages of traditional sine-wave FM. F_DEXZ combines six-operator FM synthesis with user-defined wavetable-style oscillators, opening up an entirely new sound design territory while keeping the familiar FM workflow. #VoltageModular #CherryAudio #FDEXZ #FMynthesis #DX7 #Wavetable #SoundDesign #ModularSynth #Synthesizer #VoltageModularDesigner #Drawwave #FMOperator #CustomWaveforms #ElectronicMusic #SynthProgramming
