From City to Mountains in Tokyo | An Indigo Artist Date

This month’s Artist Date took us out of the city and into the mountains for something really special. As part of our Colourful Journey retreat, we spent the day immersed in indigo, getting our hands messy, slowing everything down, and just letting the process lead. There’s something about working with indigo that pulls you into the moment. Watching the fabric change, not fully knowing how it will turn out, and being okay with that. It felt grounding, creative, and a little bit magical all at once. We stayed at a beautiful onsen hotel, with a view of the river flowing right past our room, which made the whole experience feel even more peaceful and tucked away from everything. I used to think Artist Dates had to be something you do alone, but they can be just as powerful shared. Creating alongside others, each person in their own flow, adds a whole different kind of energy. These Artist Dates are becoming my favorite reminder that inspiration doesn’t always come from doing more.
