Peter went to the gate, but another servant girl saw him and told everyone that Peter was with Jesus. Peter denied it again, saying he didn't know Jesus. A rooster crowed, and Peter remembered what Jesus had said. Peter left and began to weep profusely. The meaning: This episode shows that even a person of faith and devotion can lose their balance if they are not prepared for unexpected trials and temptations. The Bible says that Jesus told Peter, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”
