Iran’s missiles are unstoppable with their current systems.” The offensive launched by Israel and the United States against Iran marks, according to geopolitical analyst Eduardo Irastorza, a qualitative shift from the confrontation a year ago. Unlike the so-called “12-day war,” based on isolated attacks and reprisals, the current scenario—in his view—is part of a strategy designed with defined objectives and a commitment to continuity. The central element of this strategy is the attempt to provoke regime change in Tehran. The setting of an initial timeframe for the attacks and the political tone employed by Washington point, in his analysis, to an operation that goes beyond a simple, limited military response. However, he warns that an approach of this magnitude entails assuming a high political cost if the stated objective is not achieved. On the military front, Irastorza emphasizes that Iran possesses capabilities that could alter the balance of the conflict. On the one hand, the possibility of drone saturation attacks stands out, an area in which the country is one of the world's leading producers. On the other, the existence of hypersonic missiles capable of covering vast distances in just a few minutes, and whose interception is extremely complex, is noted. It is also recalled that Israeli defensive systems already demonstrated vulnerabilities in the previous conflict. The analyst considers it crucial to determine the exact origin of the attacks recorded in northern Israel, since the direct involvement of actors like Hezbollah would broaden the scope of the war.
