A trip to the water that was supposed to be peaceful... quickly turned into a cold lesson. I walk through the forest, stumble upon a deserted settlement, and reach the river just before dusk. A fire, food, and a moment of peace—everything looks good... until the temperature starts to drop. It was -4°C (-4°F) at night, and my sleeping bag only rated for +4°C (+4°F). The morning isn't much better. This is one of those trips that will stay with you for a long time.
