Pentagon IDs victim, Johnson presses Trump, House averts shutdown

The Pentagon on Tuesday identified a U.S. soldier believed to have been killed in last week’s Iranian missile attack on a U.S. air base in Jordan, days after he was initially listed as missing following one of the deadliest attacks on American forces since the Iran war escalated. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on Tuesday urged President Donald Trump to bring the Iran war to a close, a contrast to the president’s rejection that same day that the midterm elections would not affect his war strategy. The House pushed through a stopgap measure on Tuesday that extends funding for the federal government until December.
