I had planned a tough 5-day route that would have taken me on the Japanese era route to the summit of Taiwan’s second highest mountain, Xueshan (3,886m), and then on to what is known as the “Holy Ridge” (聖稜線) with the aim of summiting three of Taiwan’s “100 peaks” that I am missing - Mt Zhijiayang (志佳陽大山), Xueshan North (雪山北峰), and Mt Pintian (品田山). Transport: The trailhead is accessed from the Indigenous village of Huanshan (環山) The 1751 bus from Yilan to Lishan (梨山) stops at Huanshan.
