We're continuing to discuss soil cultivation for the various crops I've chosen for my crop rotation! For grains like barley and wheat, we've determined that soil cultivation is pointless; direct seeding is acceptable any year. However, crops like sunflowers, oilseed flax, peas, and especially rapeseed require a more sophisticated approach. This year, sunflowers aren't growing at all using strip-till, no-till, or direct seeding techniques, and the yield will likely be minimal, especially compared to plowing—the traditional method. We're investigating the causes and, just in case, are loosening the soil with a Veles-Agro GS-3 tool and plowing and vertical tillage with a Veles-Agro ZEUS tool.
