At this point in the story, we have to hunt down ten Armaboars that are rampaging around Ashihara. While they aren't bosses, and are in fact field encounters, they are mandatory fights so I wanted to represent them here (and it gave me a chance to include "Break Through With the Sword" which this run has been sorely lacking.) Though, I only showed six of the fights here for brevity's sake, one for each party member. Plus, since they're field enemies, I can talk about some more of Innocence's mechanics. In Innocence DS (unlike its Vita remake) enemies are encountered by running into them on the field, as was typical for the series at this point, rather than being random encounters. Additionally, you can preempt field enemy battles with Assault attacks; field strikes which, if landed, begin the fight by damaging and staggering every enemy. This is a nice headstart as it not only shaves off a fair bit of HP (especially if you enhance it with Abilities) but also delays the enemy's approach a bit, giving you more time to work with at the start. For the Armaboar fights themselves, there's not a ton to explain since they're essentially just beefy mob enemies, but I'll point out a couple key things. First, you can of course choose which encounters you want to fight, letting you avoid any configurations you find annoying. And second, Armaboars don't have any Iron Stance, but they do gain superarmor during attacks and can't be interrupted. Now, as for the Mystic Artes... These work a little differently than they usually do in Tales. Rather than being activated after landing an Arcane Arte, you can activate them at any time during Awakening by pressing A + B, for the cost of 100TP and ending your Awakening state. This means you don't actually need to combo into them, or even attack the enemy at all beforehand, though you can still chain combos into them if you want. Additionally, you unlock them not by character levels, but through the Style system. Level three of a character's Styles to 15, then sleep at an Inn after recruiting Hermana to get a brief Skit about them awakening to their true power, and you'll unlock the Innocence Style. Level that Style to ten to learn the "Awakening" Ability, allowing you to use MAs once equipped. Additionally, the Innocence Style has a few other noteworthy properties: It has the most balanced stat spread of all Styles (Tied with Versus Style) with a 1.0 multiplier to everything It has by far the highest Arte Mastery modifier, giving a base of 40 points per Strike Arte use and 120 per Magic Arte use. It gives learns some of the strongest Abilities in the game, including bonuses to the Tension Gauge, an HP/TP Regen Ability, and the glorious Intimidate Ability, which when equipped to your party leader forces field enemies to run away from you, making encounters super easy to avoid
