Paul Desmond & Dave Brubeck: Take 5 | WDR BIG BAND

The WDR Big Band features Karolina Strassmayer on alto saxophone with the composition "Take 5" of Paul Desmond. Stefan Pfeifer-Galilea has arranged the title for the WDR Big Band and leads the WDR Big Band. Produced in January 2020 at WDR Studio 4 / Cologne. The title "Take 5" stands like no other title for the fame of the "Dave Brubeck Quartet". With Paul Desmond on saxophone, Joe Dodge on drums, Bob Bates on bass, the US-American pianist Dave Brubeck founded the rapidly successful quartet in the early 1950s and conquered a completely new audience for jazz with his music: the intellectual middle class. "Take 5", probably the most famous title of the legendary record "Time Out", was recorded in the line-up with Joe Morello on drums and Eugene Wright on bass. On December 6, 2020 Dave Brubeck would be 100 years old.
