The Only Prison Is The Story We Keep Telling

What if the greatest prison has no walls? The Only Prison Is the Story We Keep Telling is inspired by psychology, neuroscience, and contemplative wisdom, exploring how the stories we construct about ourselves can become invisible cages. Drawing on the work of Carl Jung, attachment theory, trauma research, the brain's Default Mode Network (DMN), and ancient contemplative traditions, the song follows the journey from fear and self-judgment toward self-compassion and freedom. The stories that once helped us survive are not always the stories that help us live. The full companion article explores these ideas in greater depth, weaving together modern psychology, neuroscience, and timeless spiritual insights into a hopeful invitation to loosen the grip of old narratives and remember that we are more than the stories we tell ourselves.
