Panoramic crossing in the Dolomites: from Col de Valvacin to Rifugio Val San Nicolò. Immersed in the summer beauty of the renowned tourist destination of Pozza di Fassa, an unforgettable hike unfolds through spectacular landscapes and thrilling paths. The route begins with an impressive initial stretch along the ridge that divides Val San Nicolò from Val Giumela, offering breathtaking views that encompass the majesty of the Dolomites. In the second part of the adventure, we enter the captivating Lino Pederiva Via Ferrata, which, crossing the ridge of Sass de Rocia, guides us with an exciting perspective to Rifugio Passo San Nicolò. Along this section, the view opens up to a stunning panorama, embracing Catinaccio, Sella, Sassolungo, Sassopiatto, Marmolada, Vernel, Pordoi, and a crown of mountains that will leave you breathless. The Lino Pederiva trail, though well-trodden and easily passable, features brief exposed sections equipped with a metal cable to facilitate progression. While no specific via ferrata gear is required, caution is advised, especially for those who suffer from vertigo or are not accustomed to mountain hikes. In the third part of the itinerary, the path gently leads us into the enchanting Val San Nicolò, allowing us to fully explore it and admire the characteristic alpine huts dotting the landscape, immersing us in an atmosphere of authentic alpine beauty. In conclusion, the hike covers a distance of approximately 16 km, with an ascent of 390 meters and a descent of 1395 meters. The approximate duration of this adventure is about 6 hours. A unique opportunity to embrace the unspoiled nature and breathtaking views of the Fassa Valley area, while being cradled by the majesty of the Dolomites. ITINERARY From Col de Valvacin, the arrival of the chairlift (2354 m), follow trail 613 which will take you along the grassy ridge that separates Val San Nicolò and Val Giumela, until you reach the summit of Sass d’Adam (2433 m). From here, continue to Sela Brunech (2420 m). To tackle the Lino Pederiva Via Ferrata, follow trail marker 613B. After completing the via ferrata, rejoin trail 613 and reach Rifugio Passo San Nicolò (2346 m). Retrace your steps slightly and then descend to the left, following trail marker 608. Once in Val San Nicolò, traverse the entire valley until you reach the valley station of the Pozza - Buffaure Cable Car.
