The History of Lucas Industries
Join this channel to get early access to new videos a week ahead of their public release: / @rorymacve Greetings! :D In the modern era, the legacy of Lucas Industries in the British motoring scene is one of derision, as with their association to the unreliability of British Leyland's products during the 1970s, the presence of the Lucas 'L' on cars is now seen as almost comical due to the slew of poorly built or installed components that made up models like the Allegro, Marina and Maxi. The reality was, however, that Lucas was, at one point, the eighth largest supplier of motoring components in the world, and had been a presence in the automotive industry since its earliest days in 1900, Lucas, despite its poor reputation within the British motor industry, having a stellar record internationally and with aerospace contracts it was able to garner throughout the decades, though nowadays, what fragments remain of the 150 year old company have been bought out and broken up amid a hostile takeover during 1996.
