What Are the Qualities of a Deacon? (1 Timothy 3:8-16)

In 1 Timothy 3 the apostle Paul declared, “Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.” There is literally nothing more important for us as Christians or as Christian leaders than to grow in being increasingly sincere in every manner and every way. Our Heavenly Father cannot move on our behalf when we are pretentious, when we are disingenuous, when we are inauthentic or when we are fake. Let’s open our bible now to 1 Timothy 3 that we might learn what it means to be truly sincere and its absolute necessity for leaders in the body of Christ. 0:00 Introduction 2:24 1 Timothy 3:8-16 3:52 The Role of Deacon vs. Elder 6:54 1 Timothy 3:8-10 | The Qualities of a Deacon 18:40 1 Timothy 3:11 | The Qualities of the Wives of Deacons 21:41 1 Timothy 3:12 | A Deacon (if Married) Must Be Faithful to His Wife 23:49 1 Timothy 3:13 | Our Faith Grows as We Serve Jesus Christ 25:47 1 Timothy 3:14-16 | We Are One Body in Jesus 31:21 Conclusion Scripture Reflections to Consider: What are some qualities of deacons and elders?
