"Zafarrancho de Combate" (Documental) Armada de Chile 1969

"Battle Stations" is an institutional documentary produced in 1969, commissioned by the Viña del Mar Sugar Refinery Company (CRAV). Its main purpose was to project an image of strength, discipline, and modernity for the Chilean Navy, serving both as an internal promotional tool (for naval personnel and their families) and as a means of public dissemination, at a time when documentary film was a key medium for state and corporate communication. It was produced in the final year of Eduardo Frei Montalva's government and on the eve of a period of great political polarization that would lead to the election of Salvador Allende (1970). In this context, the documentary reinforces the image of the Armed Forces as a stable, professional institution, above and beyond political disputes, a pillar of the State. Today, "Battle Stations" is an invaluable historical film document. It offers a concrete view of the technology, tactics, uniforms, and naval culture of the Chilean Navy in the late 1960s, before the profound political and social changes that would come in the following decade. -------------------------- Follow us on our sister channels!!    / @parabellum_mil      / @parabellumclips      / @parabellummilitary   ------------------------------
