Surabaya Police officers moved quickly to apprehend four martial arts practitioners found guilty of causing trouble, damaging residential property, and burning residents' motorcycles along Jalan Raya Prapen, Tenggilis Mejoyo District, Surabaya. The brutal act actually occurred early Wednesday morning (June 17, 2026). After conducting a series of investigations, the police's operational team finally apprehended the perpetrators early Friday morning (June 19, 2026) at their hideout. Ironically, the four martial artists arrested were all from outside the area, specifically Jombang Regency. Three of the perpetrators were identified as residents of Kesamben District with the initials MALB (26), HN (28), and AS (28). The other perpetrator, a resident of Sumobito District with the initials MNAF (26), was identified. Surabaya Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Luthfie Sulistiawan, directly interrogated the suspects to uncover their motives and roles. "I'm from Kesamben, Jombang. My original purpose in Surabaya was to attend the inauguration of new members (pencak silat). The incident happened while we were on our way home to Jombang," one of the perpetrators, HN, confessed to officers. HN did not deny that he had become consumed by negative euphoria and acted violently on the streets. He admitted to throwing stones at parked cars, damaging a chicken noodle stall on the side of the road, and even inciting the burning of a motorcycle. The other three perpetrators also displayed a shirking attitude. When questioned by Senior Commissioner Luthfie, they claimed they had only joined in throwing stones at residential areas, swept away by the panic of the convoy. Some admitted to throwing two or three stones, hitting the walls of residents' homes without directly striking them. Responding to these confessions, Senior Commissioner Luthfie Sulistiawan emphasized that the police would not stop at these four names. The former Director of the East Java Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate confirmed that the hunt for other gang members was ongoing.
