Padding the Corinthian Helmet
#blacksmith #blacksmithing #armor In this video, I pad my bronze Corinthian helmet. Well........to be more accurate, I don't pad it but rather build a suspension harness to perform the same function. The ancients typically would glue felt into the inside of the helmet. Because I wanted to reduce sweat and general discomfort due to heat, I chose the suspension method instead. I don't intend to ever use this helmet in combat, so the added security of the glued-in felt is unnecessary. Quite simply, a harness of leather is fashioned, laced together and then riveted to the inside of the helmet.
