Open Skies, Rising Tides

Sometimes music doesn’t need to tell you whether something is good or bad. This Open Csus2 tuning removes the note that defines a chord as major or minor. What remains is something suspended and unresolved. It reminds me that not every season of life needs an immediate explanation. Some moments are simply meant to be experienced before they’re understood. The repeated notes create a constant foundation while every melody is free to wander. That feels a lot like life. Circumstances change. Questions come and go. But somewhere beneath it all, there can still be a quiet center. This piece was written in Open Csus2 tuning. It became less about finding the right notes and more about listening for where the music wants to go. Maybe that’s one of music’s greatest gifts. Not to provide answers, but to create the space where they can quietly emerge.
