He opens his mouth wide and smiles as he swallows his medicine at the command "Ready, go!" Next comes a timid bear, followed by a carefree crocodile. Everyone opens their mouths wide and swallows their medicine. Finally, a child, seemingly in a good mood thanks to the adorable animals featured so far, appears. The video involves opening your mouth wide in time with the "Ready, go, go!" call and taking your medicine with a smile. In this video, singer-songwriter Nakano Maru, winner of the Special Jury Prize at Miss iD 2017, showcases an addictive voice that's sure to have you listening to it over and over again. The illustrations that make you want to open your mouth involuntarily were created by picture book author Tachimoto Michiko. Commercial music maestro Yoshida Isao provided the lyrics and music that naturally make your mouth open. Dr. Ida Shinobu, vice director of the Osaka Maternal and Child Health Center, oversaw the tips for getting children to take their medicine. Furthermore, voice scientist and psychoacoustic specialist Suzuki Hajime (director of the Japan Acoustics Research Institute) analyzed the audio of the video. Prior to the release, a simple experiment was conducted in which the video was shown to children of staff members. 34 out of 41 children (approximately 83%) actually opened their mouths. The video was met with rave reviews from parents, with comments such as, "The children were very responsive," and "They were so excited they wanted another round."
