Explanation of SONNET 17 by William Shakespeare
Explanation of SONNET 17 by William Shakespeare In this sonnet, the poet expresses the fear that the future generations wouldn't take his poetry seriously, because he would be expressing the beauty and merits of his fair young friend in his sonnets, but people would find it hard to believe that earthly mortals are genuinely blessed with the divine qualities as mentioned in the poems. Only one thing can save the situation. The fair friend has to father a child through marriage. The handsome features of the son would convince the people about the beauty of the father. In that way, the friend would get the chance to live twice. Firstly, he will live on through his son who would inherit his looks. Secondly, he would also live through the sonnets, because now the people would take his poetry seriously. #kwickpoetryknowledge #sonnet17
