BUZLUDZHA | Bulgaria's Abandoned Communist Past

This is one of the strangest places I have ever been. Buzludzha is an abandoned Communist monument that sits on top of a mountain peak in the middle of Bulgaria. There is no public transit to reach it and the roads getting there are questionable at best. If you are interested in relics of communism and Soviet influence, you would definitely find this place interesting and is definitely worth a visit. While in the area, make sure you don't miss Shipka Pass and the Monument to Freedom. There is a lot of history in Bulgaria and going off the beaten path sometimes leads to the most memorable adventures.
