Fleeting Memories, Op.38 for Piano quintet

Composer: Julian Kwoun Commissioned by Ikaros Ensemble, completed Oct. of 2025. Originally I was asked if I were okay to have one of my previous piece, my Op.23 second movement (have not uploaded yet, stay tuned!) to be played once more after it was played for my master's graduation recital. With the change of instrumentation and during the process of rearranging my own piece, I decided very quickly that it would be much better for me to write something new to get me more into the realm of composer, and not arranger. Henceforth, you have this piece of music where you have some musical materials "borrowed" from my previous piece, but developed to a completely new pathway. This one was a blast in the sense of harmonic progression and intertwined counterpoint, one of my absolute favourite "tools" I love to use and hear, enjoy!! Midi from Musesounds. #composition #ensemble #musescore Ikaros 앙상블로부터 작곡 의뢰, 2025년 10월 완성. 원래는 제가 예전에 작곡한 제 Op.23, 2악장을 (아직 업로드 X) 다시 연주하는 거였지만, 이번 공연 때 악기 편성이 다른 관계로 나름대로 편곡 작업을 시작했었습니다. 얼마 못 가고, 결국에는 전 작품으로부터 몇 가지 선율 기반으로 새로운 작곡을 시작한 후 완전히 다른 방향의 곡을 작곡하게 되었습니다. 이번 작품을 작곡하면서 제가 정말 좋아하는 음악 이론 중 화성 진행 및 뒤얽히는 대위법 요소들을 최대한으로 끌어올리려고 최선을 다했습니다.
